GET YOUR SKIRT OUT

I can imagine Giovanna Battaglia wearing all the above. The styling is beautiful, reminds me why wearing a dress or skirt can be so feminine.

new york, i love you

Photos by Olivia

This time last year I was living in New York and was lucky enough to go to a few shows during Fashion Week.  The Fall 2010 shows started two days ago over there, so I thought I'd post some pictures I took at last year's Donna Karan show in the West Village, as a sort of remembrance.  The Voguettes were out in force, as were bloggers (that's Scott Schuman talking to my good friend Molly, and Garance snapping Hanneli), stylists and a few supers including Lily Donaldson - I made no attempt to hide my ogling, especially with Anna Wintour's bob that close.

We all have someone we wish we could swap lives (or wardrobes) with. For me Giovanna Battaglia is the epitome of quiet chic - she always looks effortlessly put together and polished in a way I can only dream of.

As the Fashion Editor of L'Uomo Vogue, she has access to the worlds most coveted labels, and their hero pieces, every season; yet she never looks overly flashly in a I'm-wearing -the-latest-Dior-dress-and-Alaia-shoes kind of way.  I've seen her around New York during fashion week and to me she's always stood out as someone I would love to grow up to be - quietly and seamlessly stylish, classy but never boring and sexy but never trashy.
